OBITUARIES union-News, Yuesday, January 4, 200t 40. L. Letourneau, ex- -WNEC instructor WELLS, Maine Alfred L. Letourneau, 74, of Donald Lane. a former Western Massachusetts educator and business leader, died Monday at York Hospital in York.

He was a 35-year calculus instructor at Western New England "College i in Springfield, and last year. He spent 14 of those years as director of facilities management. He also was the chief plant engineer at Steel Co. of Palmer, Mass. Born in Ludlow, he graduated from Springfield's Cathedral High School in 1942 and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1949.

A World War II Army Air Forces veteran, he was a navigator with the 100th Bombardment Group. He was shot down and interned in a German prison camp. He summered here for 55 years and purchased his home in 1991. He moved here permanently last. January.

He was elected the original Ludlow member of Westover Development Corp. in Chicopee, and served for 25 years. He was a Rita M. MacNeil HUDSON, Fla. Rita M.

MacNeil, 77, of this town, died Dec. 29 -at the Regional Medical Center in Bayonet Point. She was a clerical accountant. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she lived in Westfield, before moving here in 1988. She was a communicant of St.

She also attended the former Holyoke School of Nursing. She was an LPN at the Holyoke Geriatric Center and retired in 1994. She was a of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Republican State Committee since and of the Longmeadow Republican Town Committee and the ReaPresidential Committee in He ran its Western Massachusetts Committee.

He was chairman of the U.S. Small Business Administration Advisory Boards of Region 1 in 1981-84. He co-chaired the Massachusetts Bob Dole for President Committee in 1988 and was the first GOP state committeeman to support William Weld for governor. He was a director of the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority since 1994 and of the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority. Born in New London, he was a graduate of Buckley School there and the Warton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania in 1940.

She was a nursing supervisor at Providence Hospital for 11 years; a nursing supervisor, School of Nursing instructor and nursing services director at Mercy Hospital in Springfield for eight years; the assistant hospital administrator and director of nursing services at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester for two years: and the administrator of the former Farren Memorial Hospital in. Montague City for nine years. She also became a patient advocate and medical librarian at Farren in 1979 and was secretary and treasurer of its board of trustees until it closed in 1988.
