Search for my old prototype freestyle bike i designed.........
SO in spring of 1985 my parents took blueprints I had made and had a frame and fork made by Thruster for me (I lived in NJ at the time)
I had designed every aspect of this set up (although I did take a little advice from some shop owners in the area, some I wished I hadn't, like the head tube)
It had letter decals on it that read MPD Designs Inc.
The set is painted white BUT Thruster did a lousy job on the paint I always felt it looked spray painted
It had a 5" head tube
I believe 2 sets of pegs on the fork (this is like 28 years ago the brain isn't what it used to be)
the top tube had smaller tubes coming off it and I believe were extended behind the seat
had framestands near rear dropouts if I remember correctly too
don't know if it had a serial number or not
if complete it may also have a laidback purple seat post with a curved grab bar off the back ( I designed this after the frame)
I have no pictures of this and would love to see it again. All my bikes got sold off when my father passed away in 1990 and ive always wondered about it and would love to see it again. I don't have a single picture of it
any help would be really appreciated. Hope someone has some info on it

Re: Search for my old prototype freestyle bike i designed.........
thanks
I always hoped it went to someone who would've enjoyed it
IM sure it may have been stripped for parts because unless you rode it all the time it wasn't easy to get used to. It had Skyway mags, GT Bars, custom painted SHimano DX (they were larger right) pedals half pink half purple (it was the 80s!!) I think a pink seat
probably a needle in a haystack situation but reading thru some posts here I figure if anyone has any clues they are on this board

Re: Search for my old prototype freestyle bike i designed.........
I think the best way to find it would be to try and track down the people who bought the stuff and pick up the trail there. but if it was a random sale with no records then you are back to fishing.
You might even try to put out a Craigslist want ad in that area where you sold the stuff. Don't mention prototype I would just call it custom and see if anyone remembers it or has seen it. A long shot but the internet is huge. Good luck.

Right don't meniton prototype otherwise if you found it and the person probably want huge cash or trade for brand new truck. U know what I mean, I have seen lots of idiot post like that on cl when they found any old bmx and they think that they are sit on gold.

true its not really a protype I guess just a one off. I was 14 when I designed it. not like I could've started a company esp once you see the design but it was an important part of my childhood

Re: Search for my old prototype freestyle bike i designed.........
Not sure if this will help get you any closer, but what part of North Jersey were you in when the bike was sold? It may help to list that. Someone may have changed the color on it as well since they might have not been happy with it either.
Were there any guys you rode with on a regular basis back in the day where you used to live that you can possibly reach out to and ask if they know anything about where you bike might be?
Good luck!!
